Pride - How much is it worth?
Last night, I spent 3 hrs counselling a good old friend of mine. I appreciate him for being frank, and absolutely truthful with me. I stripped his problems right down to the very bottom, till he sees the bone of it.
Many a times, we may not even realise it. Most of the time, when an argument strike, it has something to do with PRIDE. It is amazing how Man and Woman hold onto this thing that is intangible so dearly. Yet it is not even worth a single cent at the same time. The way they are willing to sacrifies what they are about to have for it for the sake of Pride amuse me.
Before I met up with him, I prayed for Holy Spirit to put words in my mouth so that I will speak of things that are from God.
Throughout the 3 hrs, God make me see the naked truth, of how Pride can hurt the people we love, and inturn hurt ourselves deeply.
Pride has not only prevent us from getting close to God. It also prevent us from making the right choice.
I suggested that they go to professional counsellor to resolve their issue in a proper way. Even if I can speak to his wife, who is also my friend, he may not be able to see the changes in her for they already separated for 6mths. Yet, all I get is "He will think about it." Why? The best answer I can think of is EGO and PRIDE.
He says he has to do what he says. Yet, he cannot even live up to his marriage vow? Then what's with this keeping of his so-called words about the divorce?
In my 5yrs of marriage, all I see is, everyone needs to grow up into a real adult. We may go through different pathway, but ultimately we'll all grow up. We have to learn to be responsible for our action.
The cheapest it to pay for a mistake made is your pride. Imagine how difficult it is for people to say sorry.
Let go of your pride, you can amazed how the situation can turn well and good for you. Afterall, Pride isn't worth a single cent. There is really no point holding onto something that is worthless, in exchange for something that can cost you so much more for the rest of your life.
For God give grace to the humble and detest the proud. Now I also see the rationale behind it. Pride can make us irresponsible, childish, cold, and unreasonable. No wonder God hate those who are proud.
